IT governance lectures 2009-2010.
 

1. Set up of the course (see program).

    The course consists out of: two parts:

 a. Seven interactive lectures on mondays. These lectures deal with the following topics:
- lecture day one (4/1/2010) one:  set-up, basics, IT-alignment and architecture
                (chapter   1 and 2 of the book ICT governance, management and organization,

-  lecture day two, three and four (50%) (11/1, 18/1 en 25/1/2010 ):  organizing IT
                (chapter 3, 4, 5, 6, and 8 of the book ICT governance, management and organization,
                  ISBN 978-1-4092-2709-0, see also on www.lulu.com, search with thiadens)
-  lecture day four (50%) and five (25/1/2010 and 1/2/2010) : IT governance amongst which portfolio
                 management, compliance, standardization and sustainability  (chapter 9, 10 and 11 of the
                book ICT governance, management and organization, ISBN 978-1-4092-2709-0)
-  lecture day six 50% : sourcing and one of the aspects: value management (1/2/2010)
                 (chapter 12 and 13 of the book ICT governance, management and organization,
                  ISBN 978-1-4092-2709-0)
-  lecture day seven (15/2/2010)  aspects among which value           
                management, service level agreements and continuity.

b. Three lectures with case handling and literature research.  To prepare for these
lectures the students are divided into groups. Each group receives a mark for its
case solutions and its literature research paper. All groups hand in a solution for
all cases and a research paper. Assigned groups are asked to present their
solution. After the presentation a discussion will take place. 

      The program is:

       b.1. Friday 15/1/2010: two groups present their solution for the cases:
                - IB group
                - Achmea
              The remaining groups hand in on paper their solution. The solution is handed
              in before the presentation. Otherwise the mark is an one (1).
       b.2. Friday 29/1/2010: two groups present their solution for the cases:
                 - EUAI
                 - DSM
       b.3. Friday 12/2/2010. All groups hand in their literature research paper. The topics for
              this paper are given below.  For all topics a group will be requested to present its
              solutions.

                                
2.  Grading.

At the beginning of the course the class is divided into groups. These groups
consist preferably out of three or four people. Each group produces three papers. The first
two papers deal with answers on the questions posed in the four cases. The last paper deals
with a research topic. On every Friday two or three groups will present their solution.
The presentation schedule is given two days after the first lecture. 

50% of the final mark consists out of the average of the three marks given for group
work. The other 50% is the final mark is the mark for the closed book  examination at the
end of the course.
