The one day course on ICT governance, management and organization.

In the network economy, almost every organization depends on available and up to date IT
facilities. Every organization is forced to reflect on its IT demand. Governing and organizing
the supply and demand for IT is the subject of the three lectures and two cases in this
course. The 2009-2010 lectures deal with the following topics:

  1. In the first lecture, the three tasks for IT are introduced. These tasks are business
    information management, application management and IT operations. Together these
    three tasks form the threefold model for IT management.  Execution of these tasks
    has to meet functional and performance requirements. These requirements are more
    easily met when organizations and/or chains of organization possess a transparent
    information as well as IT architecture.
  2. In the second lecture the methods for the organization of these three tasks are presented.
    For organizing business information management, the Business Information system library
    (BiSL) is introduced. For organizing application management, the Application system
    library (ASL) is explained. And finally for organizing IT operations, the IT infrastructure
    library is discussed.
  3. The third part deals with the alignment of the requirements of the organization with the
    products and services produced by IT, IT governance and IT control
    .  The results of
    the research done in these areas by amongst others, Luftman and Weill are explained.
    Portfolio management is seen as a way to support IT governance and management in an
    organization and in chains of organizations.

A short manual provides guidance for these three lectures and the two cases, in which the theory
can be applied.
The manual consists of three parts. These parts are:

- a short introduction tot the lectures;
- a description of the cases used during the lecture programm;
- the slides of the presentations.
